Chevrolet Colorado

Colorado Redline Edition

Chevrolet scored big with the introduction of the Colorado line. This is a mid-size truck which is capable of some pretty serious stuff, especially in ZR2 trim. This is a compact truck with abilities that can match a full-size Silverado, minus big weight, dimensions, and price. For 2018, you can expect that the Colorado will get a diesel option, better equipment, and trim additions. Good enough to keep it amongst the best trucks on the market.

Toyota Tacoma

toyota_tacoma_limited_double_cab_36

This is a brand new, mid-size Fiat truck called Fullback which will be available globally from late 2017 and early 2018. It is based on Mitsubishi platform and it will feature four-cylinder engines and a couple of trim options.

Fiat Toro

fiat_toro_volcano_13

Another interesting product from Fiat is a new compact-sized pickup called Toro. It will be smaller than the Fullback and will feature smaller engines but Toro will be capable of doing the same things as the Fullback while being more fuel efficient. Ram 1500

2017 Ram 1500 Rebel Mojave Sand Special Edition

With that engine choice, it is more appealing to overseas customers and buyers concerned with fuel efficiency. Of course, there is the F-150 Raptor as the most dynamic version with unbelievable off-road capabilities.

Honda Ridgeline

honda_ridgeline_black_edition_7

The brand new and just released Ridgeline pickup is one of the best driving trucks on the market but also least capable of all full-size models. The reason is simple, the chassis and suspension of the Ridgeline are more car-like, softer and comfort oriented. Of course, the Ridgeline can still carry and tow a lot of weight but the specific construction makes it the best choice for people who are using their trucks just for driving. If you need a truck for work, you might look for a different one.

GMC Sierra 1500

2016 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate

Basically the same as the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Sierra is somewhat better looking with a more aggressive front end and better equipment. Also, it is more luxurious and a little bit upscale. If you want the best bang for your buck and you are in the market for a capable compact-sized truck, this is the one for you.

Hyundai Santa Cruz

hyundai_santa_cruz_concept

Ford Raptor

ford_f-150_raptor_supercrew_2

For 2018, slight improvements are planned but the basic construction and layout will be unchanged. Of course, the competitors could introduce something that could fight the mighty Raptor.

Ram 2500 Power Wagon

However, Raptor is uncompromised dirt machine while the Power Wagon still has some boulevard manners and a higher level of usability in normal conditions. nissan_texas_titan_6

20 Best SUVs For City Driving

Despite the fact that SUVs have evolved from rugged off-roaders which never left the wilderness, mud and desert terrains, their successors are basically city vehicles. Most modern SUVs are made only to go on paved roads, highways and never to leave the comfort of the town. It is the same really since the SUV layout can offer so much more in terms of usability and driving than to be just a comfortable ride for soccer moms and big shopping trips. However, that is the market reality and the buyers are always right. That is why we have compiled a list of 20 best SUVs for city driving. There are few important aspects to consider when you are looking for an SUV which will be used in urban areas. First, the important thing is the size and a city SUV must have compact dimensions to be easy to park and maneuver in heavy traffic. Second, a city SUV must have enough room for passengers and luggage which consists of groceries or shopping bags. Third, since you are never going to leave the tarmac, you don`t need intelligent all-wheel drive systems and you are good with base front-wheel drive layout. Fourth, you don’t need a very powerful engine since you are not going to cruise or plow through the muddy rivers and jungles. mercedes-benz_gla_220_d_4matic_21

That is not a bad thing since that platform is pretty good but the cars made on it are not the most spacious and comfortable ones around. It is also the case with the GLA. Under the hood is a 208 hp engine and all-wheel drive is optional. The base price is somewhat high at $34,000.

It is a compact sports car with mid-engine rear wheel drive layout but with lightweight construction, modern materials, and uncompromised driving dynamics. The prices are not yet revealed but this car is a pure enthusiasts’ road machine and we are delighted to see it finally available for sale.

Audi Q8

audi-q8-lead_0

If you think that Audi Q7 is big enough, you are wrong. The even bigger, more expensive and more luxurious Q8 is coming next year. Already presented as a concept in January 2017, Q8 is set to debut as a production model very soon. It will feature signature Audi’s design and form but upgraded engines, more power, better interior and a long list of optional extras for ultimate comfort.

Range Rover Velar

The Velar is an interesting new model that is just being announced with sales starting later this year as a 2018 model. It is slotted between Evoque and Discovery as a mid-sized SUV but it is more than just that. The Velar is kind of a personal luxury SUV dedicated to driving pleasure as well as comfort and equipment. It should bring a new dimension of SUV driving to the crowded segment and we are eager to see it in action.

Kia Stinger

kia_stinger_gt_21

One of the biggest surprises of 2017 and the most anticipated vehicles of 2018 is the new Kia Stinger. It is a sedan with great performance, fantastic styling, and affordable price. The performance sedan market is populated with pretty expensive cars which are out of reach of regular driving enthusiasts, and Kia is planning to change that by introducing an affordable but equally fast and good-looking sedan in form of the Stinger.

Hyundai i30 N

Hyundai-RN30-concept-front-three-quarters

The new i30 is already here with new and much better-looking styling, new engines and interior. But the biggest news for 2018 is i30 N, a performance, hot hatch version of the regular i30. You can expect at least 250 hp on the front axle, sharp handling, and aggressive exterior as well as good performance and swift acceleration. The i30 N should go against Ford Focus ST or Volkswagen Golf GTI.

Jeep Wrangler Pickup

7365

For years, pickup fans demanded that Wrangler gets a truck version. It seems quite logical since the Wrangler is a rugged SUV with sturdy chassis and great off-road capabilities. Finally, Jeep is ready to introduce a production version starting as 2018 model year. You can expect a price little bit higher than the regular Wrangler, double cab configuration with possible single cab coming later and powerful engines. We are sure that the new Wrangler Pickup will be sales hit not only in the USA but in the rest of the world as well.

Mercedes AMG GT Sedan

mercedes-amg_gt_concept_4

Despite the fact that the AMG GT is one of the best sports car money can buy at the moment, Mercedes is not satisfied. In fact, they want to expand the range by adding a four-door version of this model, a true performance sedan or pure sports car with four doors. It is an interesting concept and we are sure that Mercedes will deliver on the promise. The prototypes are already in testing and you can expect the world premiere to happen sometime next year.

2018 Jeep® Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

The new generation of Grand Cherokee is big news for 2018 since Jeep has started a big offensive on the global market. The new Grand Cherokee should introduce new levels of luxury, new engines, fresh and aggressive design and also significant off-road capabilities. Jeep is planning to put a new model against the luxury SUV giants like BMW X5 or Range Rover. Toughest SUVs And Trucks of 2017

You probably know that modern-day SUVs evolved from rugged and basic off-road vehicles from the past. Everything started from Jeeps and Land Rovers which earned their living by serving in the war, crossing the deserts and exploring hard to reach places. Then somebody thought of putting nicer interior, cabin insulation, and softer suspension to make it better for normal driving, and the SUV market was born. People loved the idea of having tough and big off-road vehicle in their driveways, capable of doing anything, but they also liked that it drove like a regular sedan. Basically, they liked the image but didn`t like the rough nature of off road cars. Manufacturers gave the public exactly that, tough looking SUVs with a gentle driving characteristic which are only suited for mall parking lots or highway cruising. Somewhere along the way, the simple but effective body on frame construction was lost and SUVs continued to be built on unibody platforms which stripped them of their off-road ability. Most modern SUVs look like they could cross Sahara without any problems but in reality, they wouldn`t last 15 minutes in harsh desert driving conditions. However, for the fans of really capable and tough SUVs and truck models, there is still hope since manufacturers are still producing models that can go through hell and back and even look good doing it. We have compiled a list of 10 vehicles that are durable, tough, engineered to endure anything and still good looking for you to drive them anywhere. Here are 10 toughest SUVs and trucks of 2017.

Cadillac Escalade

cadillac_escalade_26

Despite the fact that it looks like a luxury suite on wheels and it is the size of an apartment block, this Cadillac is one tough SUV. The body on frame construction, heavy-duty suspension, powerful V8 engine with 420 hp and big tow rating makes this luxury model one very capable car. Of course, the off-road driving is not its strongest side since this is a big and heavy SUV but the Escalade will provide good protection and can endure a lot of punishment. This is why the Cadillac Escalade is often used as the basis for bulletproofing and part of the motorcades of politicians and VIPs.

Chevrolet Colorado ZR2

2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2

The Colorado is a mid-sized pickup truck, smaller and cheaper than the regular Silverado but it has good construction, and interesting options to make it a very tough truck. The ZR2 package transforms this ordinary work vehicle into an off-road rocket. With the upgraded suspension, bigger wheels, locking front and rear differentials, Colorado ZR2 is up for anything and can go anywhere.
Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited

autowp.ru_jeep_wrangler_19

The Jeep Wrangler and its four-door variant, Wrangler Unlimited are the quintessential off-road vehicles and a direct descendant of the famous Jeep Willys which fought in World War II. That unique heritage and tradition is still alive and well with 2017 Wrangler and the basic concept is unchanged. The Jeep Wrangler is one of the toughest and most durable vehicles you can buy due to its simple and rugged construction, powerful engines and suspension built for off-road use. It is a little bit uncomfortable on paved surfaces but in mud, dust, and dirt, Wrangler is the king.
Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro

trd_toyota_4runner_pro_1_1

Toyota always had several tough and capable vehicles in their model lineup. One of the most interesting is the new 4Runner but with factory TRD Pro package. The base 4Runner is a very capable and strong SUV with the body on frame construction, strong suspension, and powerful engine. But with TRD Pro package it is a true off-road gem. Bigger tires, tougher springs, underbody protection and locking differential are just a part of the package and the best news is that the 4Runner TRD Pro costs around $36,000 which is quite cheap for such a capable and good looking machine.
Lexus GX

lexus_gx_460_29

Nobody expected Lexus GS to be such a good all-around vehicle since its size, equipment and looks all suggest it is just another luxury SUV who has forgotten about its off-road roots. But, the body on frame construction, advanced suspension along with intelligent all-wheel drive made this expensive vehicle really capable in the wild. You can drive through the most difficult terrains and still travel in luxury and be sure that you will arrive safe and sound. This is just amazing and too bad that most Lexus GX owners will never understand its true potential.
Ram Power Wagon

ram_2500_power_wagon_crew_cab_15

Dodge revived one of the greatest names in their history and gave it to specially prepared Ram which has only one purpose, and that is to be as tough and usable as possible. The regular Ram 1500 has got a lot of upgrades in terms of suspension, drivetrain, brakes and other components in order to make it into a Power Wagon. The result is pretty impressive because this is the truck that is equally at home in the mud or on the highway and it is equally good as a work vehicle or off-road truck. It is the best of both worlds and a great choice for anybody who is looking for a rugged truck.
Ford Raptor

ford_f-150_11_1

There isn’t anything on the market today that comes even close to the Ford Raptor. Based on the all-aluminum new F-150 truck, Raptor is an off-road beast with 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. It has 10-speed automatic transmission, full racing suspension with dual shocks per each wheel, heavy duty components, strengthened frame and body and off-road tires. The main purpose of this vehicle is to go over any terrain, jump sand dunes, splash through mud and climb on rocks faster and better than anything out there. And we have to say that Raptor accomplishes that making it the fastest street-legal off-road vehicle on the planet.
Mercedes G-Class

mercedes-benz_g_500_34

Introduced in the late ’70s, the Mercedes G-Class is one of those legendary models that changed very little during almost 40 years of production. Built as a military vehicle but soon presented to the civilian market, G-Class was always known for excellent off-road capabilities, quality, durability, and power. In the last 10 years, it became popular as a luxury ride but G-Class is much more than that. The advanced suspension, strong frame and powerful engine make this boxy SUV climb mountains and go through the deserts like it’s nothing. The only problem is its $122,000 base price but for that kind of cash, buyers will get top notch engineering, superb quality, and timeless design.
GMC Sierra 3500 HD

gmc_sierra_denali_3500_hd_crew_cab_3

The heavy duty class is reserved for biggest and most powerful trucks which are built for towing and commercial purposes. With enormous dimensions, heavy duty components, double rear wheels and towing capacity big enough to move continents, GMC Sierra 3500 HD is one tough and capable truck. Of course, there is no point of owning such capable vehicle if you are a regular driver but if you are doing construction work, towing big stuff, or just need pulling power, this is the truck for you.
Land Rover Defender

land_rover_defender_9_4

Yes, we know that Land Rover discontinued the Defender in 2016 but they are still available and if you hurry up, you can get this everlasting piece of British motoring history. The Defender, similar to Jeep Wrangler is one of the few true off-road vehicles converted to street use. Over the years, it was modified quite a bit but the basic construction, compact dimensions, aluminum body, and purpose stayed the same. That is why it was and it still is one of toughest and most durable SUVs on the market, a car that is capable of going through the jungle but still cool enough to go to dinner in a fancy restaurant. The Defender will be missed and we hope that Land Rover will replace it with something equally good.
